Who are these people?

Despite being a fertile land with energetic and entrepreneurial people, 25 years of civil unrest in the aftermath of independence, followed by the devastating HIV/AIDs epidemic, has left deep scars in Ugandan society.

UgaIrish Project is specifically involved with the Molly and Paul Children’s Village. The village is located in the Masaka district of southern Uganda, a lush area of the country about 4 hours drive south of the capital, Kampala. The local economy is largely based on agriculture while poverty is rife, with most families going without basic necessities.

Family plays a huge part in the lives of Ugandans, as does their faith. The country has a diverse range of belief systems, with Christianity widespread in the south. Kamuzinda village is based on Christian principals, and is a core part of the children’s lives.

From our base in the Children’s Village, we can reach the children in the village including the farm school, people in need in the community outside the village as well as children with physical and intellectual disabilities in the surrounding area.
