UgaIrish Visit June 2011 - Travel

We travelled via Heathrow to Entebbe, where Apollo met us with a bus, and the farm truck to carry the 38 suitcases. We broke the journey to Kamuzinda at the Equator, where we had lunch.
The farm truck was donated by an English charity in January, and has enormously simplified the operation of the farm school. Previously moving stuff around the village was by walking or ox and cart, and outside the village required a "budda-budda" taxi. It is normal to see multiple passengers or large quantities of goods on the budda-buddas. Last year we saw one carrying a double bed.
The main road from Kampala to Masaka, and on to Tanzania, is tarred, but side roads are mostly dirt tracks, and can be very badly rutted or pot-holed.
